I started IOGKF Karate in 1982 under the Instruction of Sensei Danny Lambeth at Newmarket.

After he retired from Karate, I took over his dojo until I opened the Ely dojo in 1987.

I trained diligently at the Marble Factory in Camberwell in London under the Instruction of Sensei George Andrews, and then helped build the new Institute of Traditional Karate in Walworth after the Marble factory was destroyed by fire in 1998.

I trained at these two dojos for more than 20 years.

I have always trained regularly on IOGKF Courses in both the UK and many other countries, with Shihan Morio Higaonna who is an inspiration to us all, and with many other senior IOGKF instructors.

In 2005, I rejoined Sensei Ernie Molyneux the chief Instructor of EGKA (English Goju-Ryu Karate-Do association) and in 2008 I returned to Okinawa to attend the World Budo Sai, and along with seven other EGKA Senior instructors was graded by Shihan Morio Higaonna to 6th Dan

Karate for me is a way of Life, a way to challenge myself daily both mentally and physically and to pass on my knowledge of Traditional Karate to the next generation.

Grading History

1994 Shodan (1st Dan)
1996 Nidan (2nd Dan)
1999 Sandan (3rd Dan)
2008 Yondan (4th Dan)

I started IOGKF Karate in 1990 at the Ely Dojo with Sensei Terence Read

After watching, a course in Oxford in 1989 with Sensei Morio Higaonna I was surprised to see so many women participating in what I thought was a male dominated sport, and this inspired me to start training.

I train regularly at the Ely Dojo with Sensei Terry who is a very knowledgeable instructor and on courses in the UK and abroad with many other Senior IOGKF instructors.

Karate is not an insular sport and every one is very much a part of the IOGKF Family, and this is why it is good for Families

IOGKF Karate promotes self-defence, discipline, confidence, good health and fitness.
